Andrew lay on the couch, trying to ignore how oppressively hot it was outside. Semester had finished a few days earlier and all Andrew wanted to do was sit around and do nothing. He'd slept in, Charles had made him breakfast, and now he was waiting for Charles to get home with supplies.

There were cartoons on the TV. Andrew wasn't really paying attention to them, but he liked that they were there. Background noise stopped him dwelling on some of the things he didn't always like dwelling on. He was doing better than he was at the start of semester, but it wasn't over yet.

Charles came crashing home then, tripping over a stack of books by the door. Andrew smiled, Charles cursed, and Andrew didn't feel quite as bad as he felt he should for causing his best friend an injury.

"Hansen! I thought you were getting rid of those books already!" Charles called as he made his way to the living room.

"Gimme a break, I was going to go tomorrow," Andrew said. He still got up and shifted the books out of the way. "So what'd you get anyway?"

Charles held up the bags of shopping. "Enough junk food to make your mother seriously concerned for our health. What'd you want first, ice cream or pizza?"

"Ice cream. We'll get to the pizza later," Andrew said, sinking into the couch again.

"An excellent choice, sir. It's your favourite," Charles said as he sat the tub of ice cream down on the table.

"This is why I keep you around," Andrew said.

Charles put the rest of the food in the kitchen and returned with two spoons. Taking a seat beside him, they started on the ice cream, sharing a cold kiss between mouthfuls.

"So, which one do you want to start with? I got the Back to the Future trilogy, Star Wars, and some old Westerns," Charles said after a while, indicating the large stack of videos.

Andrew thought a moment. "Oh, I don't know. You pick. Reckon we can get through them all today?"

"Excellent. Don't mind if I do," Charles said.

Andrew grabbed the tub of ice cream and sat back as Charles started one of the videos. It was barely ten in the morning, and they had the whole day ahead of them. Andrew planned to do nothing at all. Charles joined him on the couch and delighted in stealing the ice cream back. It was a game that continued throughout the movie and neither cared that they'd missed it. They could just watch it again. It wasn't like they had anything else to do.
