Week 30: Cold
Jul. 28th, 2010 11:45 amIt's raining again, just as Andrew finished his classes. Standing in the lobby, watching the rain splashing against the door, he berates himself for forgetting to bring an umbrella. Just as he goes to leave, he sees Charles gleefully approaching, splashing in the puddles collecting in the pavement. Andrew pushes through the doors and watches him. Charles has also declined to bring an umbrella, and he stands there soaking wet, his hair sticking to his face.
"Hey! You done for the day then? Thought I'd come and rescue you, except I thought you'd have a brolly and didn't bother to bring one." Charles looks slightly annoyed at himself, but it doesn't last. He grins at Andrew and takes his hands, pulling him out from under the shelter of the building and into the rain.
"Gee, you planned this well, didn't you? Heaven forbid I ever have to rely on you if I really need rescuing," Andrew said.
Charles grabbed his bony hips and brought him close. Andrew was aware that the rain was now beginning to get cold, and Charles pressing close to him wasn't helping. Charles cupped his cheek with a cold wet hand and Andrew couldn't help shivering.
"You know you're cute when you're all wet," Charles said, brushing his wet hair out of his eyes. He smiled before giving him a quick kiss.
The rain began to fall harder, going from somewhat pleasant shower to a sheer icy downpour. Andrew broke away from Charles and pulled his jacket close around him as he eyed somewhere to run that was dry and warm.
"That's all very well, but I'm rather cold now. I'll probably catch pneumonia or something. How would you feel about that, hey?" Andrew said.
"Just so you know, this isn't an excuse to get you naked and warm you up," Charles said as he took his hands and dragged him back towards his car.
They rain through the rain, though it hardly made much difference since they were both already wet. Andrew wondered if all his books would be ruined, but he didn't have much time to ponder it as Charles pulled him into the car and started the engine. It was not at all comfortable sitting in wet clothes, but Andrew was out of the rain and the trip home would not take long.
Charles cranked the heating up. "There, that'll help a little. And don't worry about the car, it'll cope."
"I'm more worried about my books, actually. If they're totally ruined, I'm blaming you completely," Andrew said, letting his soggy bag sit between his feet.
"Nah, you'll be right. Just trust me," Charles said, and Andrew knew by the way he said it that that was the last thing Andrew should do.
